Thoughts, Questions, and Lore
Since photography is a free flowing art, its ever-changing landscape is often controversial. Yesterday it was color-film and 35mm cameras. Today it is the digital revolution. Tomorrow it will be some other unforeseen avenue of interest. Below you will find some food for thought in the photographic arenas. There are quick one line thoughts, answers to some common questions, and my take on some of the lore (or givens) of photography.
Quick Thoughts
- If you shoot for yourself, do not be upset if no one else likes your stuff!
- Your favorite picture should be the one you take tomorrow.
- Better equipment makes taking images easier.... not better.
- You learn more from a bad photograph than a good one.
- Photography will can make you rich and famous... but not both.
Questions
As a photographer I get asked questions of all kinds. People always have a question whether they take pictures or not. I will talk for hours about how and why I do things they way I do; so I decided to put some my answers out here for all to see. Feel free to agree or disagree but please respect my opinions (a.k.a. do not send me nasty emails about my answers).
